Giving Thanks

The Reverend Dr. Charles D. Yoost delivers a sermon titled “Giving Thanks” with a reading from John 6:1-14. In this sermon Dr. Yoost reminds us how easy it is to fall into the trap of “there is not enough.” By our human standards there is never enough. Never enough time. Never enough money. We live in a world of never enough. But the God we worship is not a God of scarcity but the God of enough, more than enough to supply our needs.

What Goes Around, Comes Around

The Reverend Dr. Charles D. Yoost delivers a sermon titled “What Goes Around, Comes Around” with a reading from Luke16: 19-31. To many it seems the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. In this sermon Dr. Yoost reflects on a saying from his youth, “What goes around , comes around”. Will we embrace the reality of that saying in spite of all the earthly evidence to the contrary? Will we join with God in turning the world upside down, so that all may experience life, the life that really is life. The life God intends us to live. The life that God wants us to share. With Jesus the tables are turned, the poor are rich and the rich are poor.
