What About the Shrub?

What About the Shrub?

Romans 8:26-39 and Matthew 13:31-33, 44-52

Rev. Bogre focuses on the parable of the mustard seed. Why does the shrub always get the short end of the stick in regards to this parable? The shrub offers us the safety, security, nourishment and feeling of home that we all long for. However, for some of us it’s time to fly from the nest and for others it’s time to return for some rest. Are you nesting in the branches of the shrub? Are you resting in the arms of God?

Psalm 139:1-12, 23-24 and Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43

This week’s sermon focused on the verses in Psalm 139 that say, “Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?” Rev. Bogre talked about the fact that we try to hide from God. Sometimes we hide and never want to be found and other times we are hiding from God and cannot be found quickly enough. Are you hiding from God?

Light Burdens, Easy Yokes

Light Burdens, Easy Yokes

Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30

Though Jesus’ way is challenging and oftentimes the cross he asks us to carry is heavy, he shares the yoke with us and bears the brunt of the burdens we are carrying. Thank God for his offer of help! Otherwise we might be crushed by the weight of the load.
