Blind Bart - A Role Model?

Mark 10:46-52 & I John 4:19

Celebration Sunday, October 25, 2009 - Dr. Charles Yoost preaches on the theme, “Blind Bart, A Role Model?” We do not usually think of a blind beggar as a role model. However Bartimaeus was healed by Jesus, his life was changed. Not only did he receive his eyesight, Bartimaeus became a follower of Jesus. In gratitude for what God had done for him, he spent the rest of his life praising and serving God. Have our eyes been opened? Do we see what God is calling us to do? What is our next step of faith?

The God Who Wants To Be Found

Acts 17:22-31, Psalm 66:8-20 and John 14:15-21

The Rev. Tom Snyder, a United Methodist pastor who is on the faculty of Ashland Theological Seminary, preaches on the theme, “The God Who Wants To Be Found.” Like a small child who gets impatient during a game of hide-and-seek, and calls out, “I’m hiding in the closet! Come and find me!” God wants to be found. In fact, God wants to come not to visit us, but to take up residence in our hearts and in our lives.

Kingdom Economics

Mark 10:17-31

Dr. Yoost preaches on the theme, “Kingdom Economics.” Jesus tells the rich young man that he “lacks one thing.” In order to live the full, free life that God intends the rich man must divest himself of his possessions. What do our lives lack? What is keeping us from following Jesus? What seems impossible for us (such as getting a camel through the eye of a needle) is possible for God! Salvation is possible, for the rich young man of ancient Galilee and for us.

The Most Important Thing in Life

Mark 10:13-16

Dr. Yoost preaches on the theme “The Most Important Thing in Life.” What do children have to teach us about how God wants us to live? Certainly their sense of awe and wonder, their sense of trust, their openness, acceptance, honesty and their awareness of the reality of God in our world are lessons we all can learn from the children in our midst.
