Mark your calendar for October 9! Church of the Saviour will be bringing international mezzo soprano Linn Maxwell to town to perform a one-woman show on the life of a 12th century German nun, healer and composer. Hildegard of Bingen: A Timeless Message of Faith will be the theme of this year's Myers Lecture. Way ahead of her time and in a male-dominated world, Hildegard challenged the established authority of the church, both philosophically and musically. Accompanying herself on authentic medieval instruments, Maxwell will perform seven of Hildegard's original songs, and through Hildegard's actual letters and writings transport us to the turbulent times of the Crusades in Western Europe. Her message of faith, spiritual truth, healing of body and soul, and caring for the earth is more urgent today than ever. Don't miss this program at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 9 in our Sanctuary.
