Myers Lecture Series

The Myers Lecture Series provides guest speakers and programs to enhance our Christian experience.

October 2009 - “Nourishing the Soul – A Retreat for Seeking the Presence of God”
 

On Saturday, October 17, Church of the Saviour offers a one-day spiritual growth experience led by the Rev. Tom and Kitty Snyder of Ashland, Ohio. Under the auspices of the Myers Lecture Series at the church, all events are open to the community. There is no charge to attend.

Rev. Tom Snyder is on the faculty of Ashland Theological Seminary and has recently served as Director of Religious Life at Lakeside, Ohio. The Snyders are frequent retreat leaders who use labyrinth walks in their ministry.

A full day of worships begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration for sessions on Walking the Labyrinth,  Journaling, Native American Music, Watercolor  Meditation, Sacred Movement, Spiritual Reading and Prayer Starters. The program concludes around 3:30 p.m. A light continental breakfast is available at 8:30 a.m. An optional lunch may be purchased at noon.

Rev. Tom Snyder is a graduate of Boston University School of Theology. He has served seven appointments in Ohio and currently teaches church history, spiritual formation and practical theology at Ashland. He also leads seminars at Lakeside and volunteers with “Art Talk” an enrichment program in the Ashland City Schools. Kitty Snyder is a graduate of the Academy of Spiritual Formation and has served as director of caring ministries and spiritual formation. She has led retreats and study groups, and created the Labyrinth Ministry at their home church.

On Sunday, October 18, Rev. Tom Snyder will preach at all three morning worship services.

Spiritual Movement will be in Room 50.
The Labyrinth and Journaling workshops will take place in the Great Hall.
Native American Flute will be in the Chapel.
Watercolor Meditation, Spiritual Reading and Prayer Starters will be in Room 225.
